FED. at school

FED. is a proud supplier to the Ministry of Education Healthy School Lunch programme. All of our meals are produced to Ministry of Education nutritional guidelines and with hot and cold options, there's something for all seasons.

The Skinny on FED.

FED. has been making freshly prepared heat and eat meals and delivering them to Kiwi homes and schools since 2018.

Since the beginning of 2021 we've been serving up lunches to Kiwi kids in schools as part of the Ka Ora Ka Ako programme.

    Food Safety

School meals are prepared in FED's kitchens to a custom food safety control system giving you assurance that the meals are produced to the highest food standards. We also cater to halal, vegan and vegetarian customers, meaning religious and dietary requirements can be catered for.

    Delivery & Distribution

Alongside our own dedicated delivery driver, as a meal delivery business, FED. has an existing network of third party logistics providers that are working with us to deliver the meals. This means that we are not at the mercy of broken-down trucks or staff sickness.

Once the meals are delivered we work closely with the school to design a distribution system that works for you!

    Waste Management

FED. lunches are packaged in fully recyclable aluminium foil containers.

All waste is returned to the FED. kitchens where it is recycled or composted.

All organic waste is taken to our composting partner Envirofert to be turned into compost for the farming community.

    Our Team

FED. has a dedicated school lunch team that work with our schools to ensure that everything runs smoothly.

    Becky Erwood

Meet Becky, our school lunch programme lead. As a director and co-founder of FED, Becky has been part of the Ka Ora Ka Ako programme since day one and knows it inside out. She ensures everything runs smoothly, from overseeing orders and quality assurance to making sure schools have the support they need. With a deep understanding of how the programme works, Becky is always just a phone call away, ready to assist and make sure your tamariki are well FED.

    Beckie Pilley

A love of home economics propelled Beckie Pilley into the world of professional kitchens at the age of 15. Starting her culinary journey as an apprentice at La Trattoria in Parnell, she went on to hone her craft in some of Auckland’s most notable restaurants, including Sourdough Restaurant, Sails, Zarbo, and SPQR, where she was Head Chef.

As Executive Chef at FED., Beckie is the creative force behind our school lunch menus, ensuring they are nutritious, balanced, and delicious. She also oversees kitchen production, making sure every meal meets our high standards before it reaches hungry tamariki. With her extensive experience and passion for great food, Beckie plays a key role in keeping our school lunch programme running smoothly.

“The programme has made a positive difference to the school environment and facilitated the coming together of our school community in a way that allows us to have conversations about learning without it being too ‘work’ focused.”
